How SciSpace Credits Work for Teams: Allocation, Shared Usage, and Query Costs
TL;DR
1-min readSciSpace Agent uses a usage-based credit system. Tasks performed inside Agent consume credits, while standalone tools used outside the Agent experience do not. On a team plan, members draw from one shared organizational pool, with admins able to set individual usage limits. Unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle.
How to do it
Check the current balance
Use the credit balance shown in the SciSpace interface for a quick view of the organization's remaining allocation.
Open Agent Usage
Open the profile menu, go to Settings, and select Agent Usage. Review the remaining balance, query-level usage, and current billing cycle.
Review team limits
On a team plan, the organization uses one shared credit pool. Admins can set and adjust individual usage limits, and members who run low can request additional credits.
Define the task before running Agent
Specify the database or source, date range, research scope, and expected output at the beginning of the request instead of leaving the task open-ended.
Break large investigations into stages
Separate search, review, extraction, comparison, and reporting when a project is large enough that the team should inspect the result of one stage before continuing.
Use deeper workflows when they are justified
Reserve deep research and expert models for tasks that genuinely require additional depth, reasoning, or verification rather than using them for simple lookups.

Frequently asked questions
Do standalone SciSpace tools consume Agent credits?
No. The tutorial states that credits power tasks performed inside SciSpace Agent. Standalone tools used outside the Agent experience do not consume Agent credits.
Are credits shared across a team?
Yes. A team plan uses one shared organizational credit pool. The admin can set an individual usage limit for each member and adjust that limit later.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. The tutorial states that unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle and a new allocation is added when the next cycle begins.
Where can admins review credit usage?
Go to Settings → Agent Usage to review the remaining balance, query-level usage, and the current billing cycle.
Why does one Agent task consume more credits than another?
Credit usage depends on the scope, depth, sources, steps, outputs, and amount of processing required. Broad exploratory workflows generally consume more credits than focused, clearly defined tasks.

In SciSpace Biomedical Agent, a research team should share the same question, evidence boundaries, extraction fields, and review responsibilities before running an agentic workflow. Pilot the task, inspect the search and evidence table together, assign domain review, and retain decisions so that another team member can reproduce the result.
